So, the City of West Palm Beach has issued a boil water order for the entire city. This isn’t the first time the city has had a boil order but since we’ve owned a home here, weve only experienced it once or twice due to hurricanes and even then it was just a precaution. This time however it is for an entirely other and totally repugnant (to steal a vocab word from Joelle) reason. From the article on the Palm Beach Post website:
Seven samples taken Wednesday, including sites in the Villages and Land of the Presidents neighborhoods, had traces of total coliform, fecal coliform and E. Coli.
If I wasn’t totally germophobe before, I am now. I feel like there is E. Coli bacteria lurking everywhere now and have spent the last 24 hours cleaning like an insane person. My neuroses has been taken to a whole new level. I want to barf. And the worst part for me is the showering. I can live without tap water for the most part. We get water delivery here in the 5 gallon dispenser fashion, so there is no shortage of bottled water in this house. And though they say the water is safe for showering, I have a very hard time washing myself and my kid with E.Coli and Feces contaminated water. “Ew” just doesn’t cover it. Time to go back to Georgia.

OK, what would make you more smelly, after say, six days? Not showering, or showering with fecal water? Either way… ew.

And actually, what good would boiling the water do? It would just make hot poopy water instead of just cold poopy water.
