Amidst all the holiday madness and impending new year celebrations, we had Reilly’s second birthday smashed in here. Seeing as how I gave birth to him 4 days post Christmas, he gets the pleasure of his birthday shuffled in with all the other hoopla. I promised the day he was born I would never combine his birthday with anything else. No cheating the kid out of his well earned birthday presents… at least from us. So needless to say, aside from the pile of presents he got from Santa, he got another generous pile from us and friends and family yesterday too. Kid’s got a year’s worth of presents in the span of a week. He is a happy and very busy child now. In the top favorites is a road rug from Home Depot and a John Deere animal tractor from Auntie Joelle. They were the first new items played with this morning.
As for me, I am still spinning on the fact that 2 years ago I had him. He was a little tiny baby. Now he’s a big kid and is just as charming and exhausting as ever. He has his moments, but he is a sweet and unbelievably adorable kid and I wouldn’t change anything about him… even though he was supposed to be a girl (thank you to the ultrasound technician who told me THAT), I can’t imagine having it any other way. It’s still so incredible to me..I’m sure to anyone else it’s like “big deal you have a 2 year old...so do 7868687347822368 other people”.. but I don’t think I will ever really get over the fact that he’s here and growing before my eyes. Happy Birthday, Kiddo.
So now that the holidays are about over and things are winding down, it’s back to work, back to the gym and back to routines. Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!

Same thing happened to me! Logan was supposed to be Katrina, just 20 years ago.
I write all the time about how my babies are growing so fast...it’s a forever phenomenon that all mothers have a hard time wrapping their brains around. I personally think babies should come with speed dials. Slow for the great parts and turbo speed for the uh, less endearing parts (like learning a swear word, sleepless nights etc..).
Happy New Year to you and yours! I’ve enjoyed your book BTW!

Oh yay! Happy 2nd birthday, Reilly! My husband’s b-day is December 20th and my sister’s is on the 12th, so we also always try to make them separate and special in their own ways.
I was just remembering how you thought Reilly was going to be a girl - and your mad dash to return all the pink. I can’t believe that was two years ago!

Happy New Year! And Happy Birthday to Reilly!
I know a person who’s birthday is the 27th of December, and they decided to celebrate their birthday, at least as far as presents are concerned, on June 27th, just so they wouldn’t get gyped out of gifts.
Not that I’m saying you should do that for the guy, but it’s worth considering anyway.

Can Reilly really be two years old already? It seems like just yesterday, you discovered he was a boy instead of a girl. Happy Birthday, Reilly!
from the second day of the new year.
p.s. Happy New Year!

Happy Twos to ya!!!
My step-daughter’s b-day is 3 days after Xmas and we try to keep it all separate. It must suck still because two thrilling occasions are within days of each other. What’s left for the rest of the year?!?!
