Please tell me I wasn’t the only miserable sod traveling home from holiday festivities yesterday. We were crazy to drive the 12 hours to Delaware to begin with but to return home on Sunday after Thanksgiving was truly one of the more stupid ideas we’ve had in a long time. It took almost 15 hours to get back to Georgia thanks to heavy traffic, 10 car pile-ups (really...it could have been worse, right?), the dog barfing, and many stops to re-fuel and pee.... we finally made it. And we won’t be driving that far in along time. Well until we go to Florida after Christmas. Ha. Now, I need to shop. Profusely.

from your moms.
Yeah, our last trip driving to Florida (2 days!) totally turned me off the idea of long, long drives. Fuck it. I’ll fly and rent a damned car.

You are brave… we took a similar length trip over Thanksgiving last year. My hubby ended up sick the entire trip except for the time spent travelling in the car. Our youngest (7 months at the time) screamed at the top of his lungs the last four hours of our trip home which set off the oldest (2 1/2 years) on his own crying jag. Fun for everyone. I’m glad to read you made it home safe and sound despite the headache of traveling that far in a car and battling it out with heavy holiday traffic. We head home tomorrow.

My folks live in Dover which, with a ten month old, ends up being an eight hour drive for us. Since I wasn’t up for that this year and flying with a baby is really no better, we just said forget it - see ya next holiday! :o)
