Hi! I'm Kathy, the blonde half of Moxie Design Studios. Well "blonde" in the sense that I was blonde as a child and then I wasn't but now thanks to highlighting technology and Dina from my salon, I am in fact, blonde. With my best friend and business partner, Joelle, we launched BlogMoxie back in the day when having a celebrity "skin" on your blog was trendy. It's been 4 years, and now today, we still totally love our job and we are still best of friends. I love her. Can't beat that. (In case you came here looking for the clam dip explanation... this is all I am willing to divulge.) I am also proud to say that we co-authored the first book in a brand new series from Wiley Publishing called The IT Girl's Guide to Blogging with Moxie which is out and in stores now as well as available on Amazon! I am a mother. I gave birth to a baby boy in December of 2005. His name is Reilly and he is by far my most favorite person on the planet. He keeps me way more occupied than I ever thought imaginable, but he makes me appreciate things like sleep, and uninterrupted bathroom time. I spend every day thinking up creative ways to entertain him between naps. Right now, we spend hours blowing bubbles, playing with sand, going to swimming lessons and looking at trucks. Mommy also spends hours washing bubbles out of her clothes and picking sand out of her... *ahem*. Does that make this a "mommy blog"? I guess so technically. But I still don't wear Mom Jeans.
I love to read celebrity gossip blogs. I don't necessarily care about Lindsay Lohan and her DUI's and Rehab stints but it's like watching a burning building. *googlie eyes* I have enough flavors of body wash to fill a small swimming pool. Seriously. I can't stop buying it. I keep trying to tell myself to not buy any until I finish what I have. I never keep that promise. I have about 7 lip balms in my purse/diaperbag at all times. I love photography. I got a big fancy camera, A Nikon D80 and I still don't know what the hell I am doing with it but it's a fun hobby to learn. If I am having a cocktail I'll opt for a cold slightly dirty Belvedere Martini... 3 olives, but lately I have been more of a Champagne kinda gal. Bring on the bubbly!
I started blogging sometime in 2001 at pixelsphinx.com. I started out with a Greymatter blog and then graduated to MovableType for a while. I later moved to a new domain dirtymartinis.net and somehow ended up here at pinkmartinis.com. I think I just liked the domain name... and hello, I'll take anything with a martini attached to it. I use ExpressionEngine to run things and the code is all swiped mostly from Joelle. She busted her rump writing it all. (What's hers in mine and whats mine is hers, you know, so don't go tattling.) We had to be matchy matchy because we're dorks like that. Our Moxie Girl characters are drawn for us by Derek Yaniger and he is the cat's ass, as they say.Want to know something else?
